100 Entities Onboarded for Aadhaar Offline Verification: UIDAI

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has onboarded 100 entities as Offline Verification Seeking Entities (OVSEs) within three months of the rollout of Aadhaar-based offline verification, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said on Monday.

The Ministry described the milestone as a step towards enabling secure, consent-based, and paperless identity verification, benefiting both service providers and citizens.

According to the Ministry, the onboarded entities span a wide range of sectors, including central and state government departments, fintech companies, hospitality and event management organisations, educational and examination bodies, and identity and workforce verification agencies.

The integration of these entities into the Aadhaar Offline Verification ecosystem is expected to improve service delivery timelines, reduce operational complexity, and lower costs associated with physical document handling and manual verification.

The Ministry said the initiative reflects growing confidence in Aadhaar-enabled digital verification frameworks that prioritise user consent and privacy.

Under the system, Aadhaar holders can share limited identity data using QR code-based verification and digitally signed documents, without requiring real-time access to UIDAI’s central database.

Officials said this approach allows individuals to retain control over their personal information by sharing only the minimum necessary data, ensuring greater privacy and transparency.

“This simplified verification journey reduces complexity and builds trust through transparent and consent-driven interactions,” the Ministry said.

The distributed nature of the system is designed to enhance scalability, resilience, and security, in line with India’s vision of building inclusive digital public infrastructure.

The initiative is also expected to improve ease of living by enabling faster onboarding, reducing paperwork, and simplifying interactions between citizens and service providers.
