International Yoga Day: Hundreds join Yoga session in Nepal’s Pokhara

The 10th edition of International Day of Yoga was celebrated across Nepal today with morning yoga sessions.

The Embassy of India in Kathmandu, in association with Pokhara Metropolitan City and Patanjali Yogpeeth, organised a yoga session in Pokhara that drew hundreds of enthusiasts.

Renowned Yoga instructors from Patanjali Yogpeeth in Pokhara delivered lectures on the benefits of Yoga, especially for office workers and those leading sedentary lifestyles.

Chief Minister of Gandaki province, Surendra Raj Pandey, said that Yoga plays an important role in leading a healthy lifestyle. He highlighted the government’s efforts in spreading awareness of yoga with the theme “my health, my responsibility”.

Ambassador of India to Nepal, Naveen Shrivastava, emphasized that the Indian embassy is keen to develop Pokhara, considered the tourism capital of Nepal, as a Yoga center to attract greater tourist flow in Nepal and enhance people to people connect between the two countries.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from the local community, college students and school children, including officials of local administration, members of various local Yoga organizations, and Gorkha soldiers, who joined in to promote the ancient practice of Yoga for health and well-being. Participants shared their experience and the benefits they have gained from yoga.

The celebrations began in the morning with a series of yoga sessions led by experienced instructors, showcasing a range of asanas, pranayama and meditation techniques. Participants were guided through the physical and mental benefits of each practice, emphasizing the holistic approach of Yoga to physical and mental health.
