A total of 13,287 vacancies have been filled in Central Higher Educational Institutions (CHEIs) in a span of just 10 months under the Mission Recruitment Drive. The union Ministry of Education has informed Parliament on Monday.

The Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Dr. Subhash Sarkar, gave this information in a written reply to a question asked in the Lok Sabha regarding the vacancies of teaching and non-teaching staff in Central Universities.

He informed that the Ministry of Education has directed all the Central Higher Educational Institutions (CHEIs) to fill up the vacancies in mission mode. A total of 13,287 vacancies have been filled in CHEI in just a span of 10 months under the mission recruitment drive until July 27, 2023.

The creation and filling of vacancies is a continuous process. Vacancies arise due to additional requirements resulting from retirement, resignation, and an increased number of students. State universities are established through respective State acts, and vacancies in them are filled by the respective state governments and universities themselves.
