19.37 lakh new workers enrolled under ESI Scheme in June 2025

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on Thursday released provisional payroll data showing that 19.37 lakh new employees were enrolled under the ESI Scheme in June 2025.

According to the data, 34,762 new establishments came under the social security ambit of the scheme during the month, extending its coverage to more workers. Of the total enrolments, 9.58 lakh employees, accounting for nearly half the registrations, were young workers up to the age of 25 years.

The data further shows that 4.13 lakh women were registered in June, while 87 transgender employees also joined the scheme, reflecting ESIC’s commitment to extending benefits across all sections of society.

In May 2025, the number of newly registered youth was 9.46 lakh. The June enrolments show an increase of over 12,000 in this category.

ESIC said that the payroll data is provisional, as updation is a continuous process.
