Over 2,707 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions were carried out in FY 2024–25, underscoring the pivotal role of the biometric ID system in driving India’s digital economy, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said in a statement on Monday.
According to the ministry, Aadhaar number holders carried out 247 crore authentications in March 2025 alone—surpassing the figures recorded during the same period last year as well as in February 2025. With this surge, cumulative Aadhaar authentication transactions have now crossed 14,800 crore.
The ministry highlighted that this growth reflects Aadhaar’s widespread adoption across sectors such as banking, finance, and telecommunications, and its vital role in ensuring the smooth delivery of benefits under various government schemes and services.
Recognising this innovation, UIDAI was conferred the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration on April 21 under the Innovation category for its work on Face Authentication.
In addition, Aadhaar’s e-KYC service continues to facilitate ease of doing business, with over 44.63 crore e-KYC transactions recorded in March 2025—a 6% increase from the same month last year. The cumulative count of e-KYC transactions has reached 2,356 crore as of March 31.
The month of March also saw 20 lakh new Aadhaar enrollments and more than 1.91 crore Aadhaar updates, highlighting the continued relevance and active usage of the digital identity platform.
