Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is on a two-day visit to India, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Monday.
PM Modi welcomed Sheikh Khaled with a hug as the two leaders greeted each other.
Sheikh Khaled arrived in New Delhi on Sunday for his first official visit to India, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal received the Crown Prince and he was given a ceremonial welcome upon his arrival.
Sheikh Khaled’s visit to India, scheduled from September 9-10, is at the invitation of PM Modi. During his stay, he will meet with President Droupadi Murmu and visit Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
On September 10, the Crown Prince will travel to Mumbai to participate in a Business Forum with leaders from both countries.
In February, PM Modi visited the UAE, where he discussed the India-UAE bilateral relationship with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and witnessed the exchange of eight agreements. The leaders endorsed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for an intergovernmental framework on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), highlighting both nations’ commitment to enhancing regional connectivity.
PM Modi and President Al Nahyan also underscored the importance of strengthening economic and commercial cooperation, and they welcomed the robust growth in UAE-India trade relations following the implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
During his visit, PM Modi inaugurated the BAPS Mandir, the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, and addressed the Indian diaspora at the ‘Ahlan Modi’ event in the UAE capital.
