Indian film stars are set to shine at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sobhita Dhulipala walking the red carpet, and a special screening honoring Prateik Babbar’s late mother Smita Patil.
On Wednesday night, Aishwarya was spotted at the Mumbai airport with her daughter Aaradhya. Before boarding the flight to Cannes, the ‘Devdas’ star happily posed for shutterbugs, greeting them with a smile. However, it was her arm sling on the right hand that caught everyone’s attention, raising concerns among fans about a potential injury. Aishwarya waved but stayed mum about her injury. She is attending as a L’Oreal Paris brand ambassador.
The actress made an iconic Cannes debut in 2002 with Shah Rukh Khan, arriving in a chariot decked in a yellow saree – a moment etched in fans’ memories.
Meanwhile, on Thursday morning, Sobhita Dhulipala was spotted at the Mumbai airport ahead of her Cannes debut. Serving major fashion goals, she opted for a chic black top, jacket, and denim pants, leaving her hair open with minimal makeup. Sobhita will walk the red carpet representing Magnum India.
The 77th edition will hold a special place for actor Prateik Babbar too. During the early hours of Thursday, he was spotted leaving for Cannes, all smiles for the shutterbugs. His mother Smita Patil’s film ‘Manthan’ is set to be screened at the festival on May 17 in the Cannes Classics section.
The 1976 film, starring Naseeruddin Shah, was inspired by the pioneering milk cooperative movement led by Verghese Kurien. It will be attended by Shah, the producers, and Film Heritage Foundation’s Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, who restored it.
Apart from Aishwarya, Sobhita, Aditi Rao Hydari is also expected to attend the event.
The festival opened on May 16 with Meryl Streep receiving an honorary Palme d’Or. It will run through May 25.
