Amit Shah hails Mudra Yojana’s role in boosting self-employment as scheme completes 11 years

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Wednesday said the Narendra Modi-led government has empowered small traders and start-ups by providing collateral-free loans under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), giving a boost to self-employment and small industries.

Marking the completion of 11 years of the scheme, Shah said more than ₹40 lakh crore worth of 58 crore loans have been disbursed under the programme since its launch.

“In 11 years of MUDRA, the government led by Shri Narendra Modi has empowered small traders and start-ups by providing collateral-free loans, thereby giving new strength to self-employment and small industries,” Shah said in a post on X.

He added that the scheme has benefited around 12 crore youth, giving new momentum to the country’s journey towards building a self-reliant India.

Highlighting the scheme’s impact on women, Shah said that two out of every three Mudra loans have been given to women, calling it a historic achievement in promoting women’s empowerment and self-reliance.

The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, launched on April 8, 2015, provides collateral-free loans to micro and small enterprises to promote entrepreneurship and expand livelihood opportunities across the country.
