Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh extend greetings on Assam Rifles Raising Day

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday extended greetings to the personnel of the Assam Rifles on its 191st Raising Day, lauding their courage, dedication, and service to the nation.

In a post on X, HM Shah praised the force for its dual role in safeguarding the country’s borders and building trust among local communities in the Northeast.

“Raising Day greetings to the courageous personnel of the Assam Rifles and their families. They shield our borders in the Northeast’s challenging terrains, embodying valor and patriotism while building trust among communities with humanitarian support,” he said. He also paid tribute to personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted the force’s critical role in India’s security framework, particularly in the northeastern region. “On their Raising Day, greetings to all the ranks of the Assam Rifles. This force has played a vital role in our security apparatus by safeguarding our border areas. Their unwavering commitment to security of the North-Eastern part of India is highly commendable,” he said.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also paid tribute to the force, describing them as the “Sentinels of the Northeast.” He commended their role in guarding difficult terrains and ensuring peace and stability in the region.

The Assam Rifles, one of India’s oldest paramilitary forces, is known for its distinguished legacy of discipline, courage, and commitment. Tasked with guarding the country’s northeastern borders and maintaining internal security, the force continues to play a crucial role in both defence and humanitarian efforts.
