Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a high-level meeting in the national capital on Sunday to evaluate the escalating security concerns in Manipur.
According to sources cited by ANI, Shah will conduct a detailed review on Monday to address the volatile situation, which has seen rising tensions in the state.
The ongoing unrest has prompted the government to intensify efforts to monitor and stabilize the region.
The home minister convened the meeting upon his return to Delhi, postponing a scheduled visit to Vidarbha, where he was expected to attend rallies ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections on November 20.
Manipur has been grappling with violent clashes involving armed groups from the Meitei and Kuki communities, resulting in the loss of lives and significant disruption to public order.
On Saturday, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced that all security forces had been directed to take necessary actions to restore peace. The ministry also warned of strict measures against individuals involved in violent activities. Several key cases have been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for thorough investigation.
The MHA has urged the public to maintain peace, avoid spreading rumors, and cooperate with security forces to uphold law and order.
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General Anish Dayal Singh visited Manipur earlier on Sunday to assess the situation on the ground. His visit included meetings with local security officials to explore additional measures for de-escalating tensions.
