Amit Shah to be chief guest at closing ceremony of National Games in Haldwani

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the 38th National Games in Haldwani on Friday. The event is set to begin at 2 pm at the International Sports Complex, according to an official release.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the National Games at Maharana Pratap Sports College in Dehradun on January 28. Preparations are underway to make the closing ceremony at the International Sports Complex in Haldwani as grand and spectacular as the opening.

The 38th National Games featured 35 sporting events, with all but two being tele-sports. Dehradun served as the main venue for the multi-sport event, while several competitions were also held in cities such as Haldwani, Haridwar, and Rudrapur. A unique aspect of the event was the inclusion of sports activities in remote mountainous areas like Khatima, Tanakpur, Almora, and Tehri.

Apart from Amit Shah, several dignitaries will be in attendance, including Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Meghalaya Chief Minister Kongkal Sangma, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta, Uttarakhand Sports Minister Rekha Arya, Nainital MP Ajay Bhatt, and Indian Olympic Association President and MP PT Usha.

Uttarakhand has left no stone unturned in extending warm hospitality to athletes, officials, and spectators from across the country, “Known for its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage, the state has combined world-class sports facilities with its signature warmth, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for all participants,” the release said.

“The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Dehradun and other venues have been equipped with modern amenities to provide a smooth and competitive environment. Special attention has been given to dietary needs, with nutritious and diverse meal options catering to different regional preferences,” the release added.
