Amit Shah to inaugurate dairy sustainability workshop at Bharat Mandapam

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate the Workshop on Sustainability and Circularity in the Dairy Sector on Monday at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

The event will bring together key stakeholders to discuss sustainable dairy farming practices and the adoption of circular economy principles to enhance environmental responsibility while fostering economic growth.

The workshop will focus on policies and initiatives led by the Ministry of Cooperation and the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, aiming to promote eco-friendly dairy practices.

The concept of circularity, which emphasizes the reuse, regeneration, and recycling of resources to minimize waste, will be a central theme of the discussions. Experts will explore how these principles can be integrated into the dairy industry to improve sustainability and efficiency while reducing its environmental impact.

An official statement from the Ministry of Cooperation highlighted the importance of the event, stating, “Experts from the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), industry leaders, and global organizations will discuss ways to expand circular dairy practices, explore financing options, carbon credit opportunities, and waste-to-energy solutions. The role of advanced technology in making dairy farming more efficient will also be a key focus. Sustainability and circularity in the dairy sector, along with increased efficiency, will contribute to realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi’ (prosperity through cooperation).”

One of the key highlights of the workshop will be the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for the establishment of biogas plants across multiple states. These plants will play a crucial role in recycling dairy waste by converting it into biogas, compressed biogas (CBG), and organic fertilizers, thereby supporting both sustainable waste management and renewable energy production.

Additionally, the event will see the release of new guidelines aimed at promoting environmentally responsible dairy farming practices, further reinforcing the government’s commitment to sustainability in the sector.
