In an effort to streamline the immigration process at airports, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will launch the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Program (FTI-TTP) at seven major airports across India on Thursday. These airports include Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Ahmedabad.
The FTI-TTP, previously launched at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport in June 2024, is part of the government’s Viksit Bharat@2047 vision.
According to a press release by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the program aims to provide world-class immigration facilities to travellers, making international travel seamless and secure. Initially, the facility will be available free of cost for Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders.
Travellers can register for the program through an online portal (https://ftittp.mha.gov.in) by providing personal details and uploading necessary documents. Biometric data will be captured at Foreigners Regional Registration Offices or at the airport during travel.
Once registered, travellers can complete the immigration process by scanning their boarding pass and passport at e-gates, where biometric authentication will be carried out. Upon successful authentication, the e-gates will automatically open, granting immigration clearance.
This initiative will eventually be extended to 21 major airports across the country, the MHA statement said.
