Andy Murray falls at first hurdle in Stuttgart

Former world number one Andy Murray began his grass court season with a straight sets loss to American Marcos Giron in the opening round of the Stuttgart Open on Tuesday (June 11).

Giron saved three break points throughout the match and broke Murray’s serve twice en route to a 6-3 6-4 win.

Italians Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Musetti also advanced following respective victories over Russian Roman Safiullin and Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
