The Deepotsav celebration in Ayodhya is set to enter the Guinness World Records with two significant achievements this year. For the first time since the completion of the Ram Temple, the festival will feature a 1,100-person Saryu Aarti alongside a large-scale diya-lighting ceremony. The event will take place at multiple locations, including New Ghat, Old Ghat, and Bhajan Sandhya, with preparations in place for lighting over 25 lakh diyas.
A 30-member Guinness World Records team is present to oversee the preparations, with results expected after the lighting on October 30.
Nischal Barot, the team’s in-charge, noted the significance of this year’s celebration, saying, “This is the seventh Deepotsav, but it’s special because it’s the first after the Ram Mandir’s construction.”
With the goal of surpassing previous records, organizers have placed an estimated 2.8 million diyas. The counting process will utilize specialized software to ensure accuracy, as precise dimensions for each 16×16-foot area are critical for maintaining count integrity. Barot praised the dedication of the 30,000 volunteers who have supported the initiative over the past seven years.
Deepotsav, a five-day festival, celebrates Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after a 14-year exile, highlighting the city’s cultural and spiritual significance and attracting millions of devotees and tourists.
