Badminton Asia Championships: Sindhu beats Malaysia’s Wei to advance to round 16

Two-time Olympic medallist P. V. Sindhu defeated World No. 33, Malaysia’s Goh Jin Wei 18-21, 14-21, 19-21 to move to the round of 16 at the Badminton Asia Championships in Ningbo, China. 

Meanwhile, in the Men’s Singles, Lakshya Sen crashed out in the opening round of the Championships after suffering a straight-game loss to local favourite and top seeded Shi Yu Qi. 

In another match, Indian shuttler Priyanshu Rajawat crashed out in the men’s singles opening round. 

In Women’s Doubles category, the Panda sisters — Rutuparna and Swetaparna also lost the match 8-21 13-21 to seventh seeded Zhang Shu Xian and Zheng Yu W of China.
