Bangladesh: After Army reshuffle, reconstitutes police force

In Bangladesh, after major reshuffle in top level of Army on Tuesday,  New authorities have reconstituted the police force of the country on Wednesday. The new regime replaced the additional Inspector General of Police Md. Harun Ar Rashid as Director General of Rapid Action Battalion with AKM Shahidur Rahman. While Md. Mainul Hasan has been appointed as new commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). The Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification in this regard.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday night a meeting held at Bangabhaban among President Mohammed Shahabuddin, three chiefs of the armed forces and coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and took the decision to make Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus the head of the interim government.The president’s press secretary confirmed the media after the meeting.

The President stressed for the earliest formation of interim government as the country is now passing through a transitional period and also suggested to finalize the nomination of other members of the Advisory Council in consultation with the political parties. The president also suggested to nominating a freedom fighter in the interim government.

Besides, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced to hold a rally in front of its Nayapaltan central office on Wednesday and it will be addressed by the BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, said a party press release issued on Tuesday.
