Bangladesh Police Arrest Drug Peddler Near Indian Border

In Bangladesh, Police in an anti-crime drive arrested an alleged drug-peddler with 6.5 kilograms of heroin from close to the Indian border from Godagari Upazila of Rajshahi district on Monday night.
 
On a tip-off, a detective police team conducted a raid at Matikata area under Godagari upazila of Rajshahi and arrested Ezazul Babu and recovered 6.5 kilograms of heroin from his possession around 3.00 am.
 
A case was recorded with Godagari Police Station in this connection and the arrested person along with the seized contraband goods was handed over to the police on Tuesday, reports news agency BSS.
 
According to media reports in Bangladesh, Godagari Upazila of Rajshahi district remains in news off and on due to drug trafficking related cases and it has an international border with the Indian state of West Bengal near Murshidabad.
