Bhashini-enabled e-shram portal now available in all 22 scheduled languages

Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, launched the multilingual functionality of the e-Shram portal on Tuesday in New Delhi, making it accessible in all 22 Scheduled Languages. This move aligns with the vision of making e-Shram a ‘One-Stop-Solution’ for unorganised workers in India, providing comprehensive social protection.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s (MEITY) Bhashini project was leveraged to upgrade the e-Shram portal, which previously supported only English, Hindi, Kannada, and Marathi. The portal now serves a broader perspective, ensuring that workers across the country can register and benefit from various government schemes in their native languages.

Dr. Mandaviya also highlighted the increasing trust in the e-Shram platform, with over 30,000 registrations per day by unorganised workers. He urged all unorganised workers to register on the portal to access a wide range of government schemes aimed at supporting their welfare, livelihood, and well-being.

The Minister emphasized that registering on e-Shram would unlock access to social security schemes, including twelve Government of India schemes currently available through the portal. To extend its outreach and ensure a user-friendly experience, he mentioned that the government plans to involve mediators like Common Service Centres, Bank Correspondents, Post Offices, and MY Bharat volunteers.

Sumita Dawra, Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, further detailed efforts to make e-Shram a ‘One Stop Solution’ for social protection. She outlined ongoing initiatives, such as the registration of Building and Other Construction Workers (BoCW) and gig and platform workers, as well as plans to integrate State Government schemes.

The ministry is also working on launching an e-Shram Mobile App, introducing a Single Common Application Form, and integrating payment gateways to simplify access to social protection benefits.

The event marks a significant step toward strengthening the government’s commitment to enhancing social security for unorganised workers and improving their access to welfare services.
