Biden to re-run for elections in a bid to stop Trump from winning

US President Joe Biden is gearing up for a re-run at the Presidential election. President Biden has confirmed that he will be running for the elections in a bid to stop former President Donald Trump from winning.

“If Trump wasn’t running, I’m not sure I’d be running,” President Biden said at a fundraising event for his 2024 campaign outside of Boston. “We cannot let him win,” he further added.

However, Democratic voters are expressing concerns over Biden’s age. He turned 81 last month. It will be interesting to see how the US Presidential election turn out. The President hinted that he would have skipped the re-run if Trump wasn’t in the race.

During his 2020 presidential campaign, Biden often mentioned that his decision to run was due in part to then-President Trump’s handling of issues, including a 2017 white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump who is looking to get back to the White House has commented that he will not become a dictator if he becomes US President again except “on day one”. Trump has frequently promised “retribution” on political opponents if he gains power again.

Additionally, Democrats and some Republicans have expressed concerns that America was in danger of becoming an autocracy if Trump wins the 2024 election. Biden too, has repeatedly warned that Trump is a threat to democracy, and a second term for him could lead to an unprecedented and dangerous age of American autocracy.

Trump was in the White House from 2017 to 2021. He lost the 2020 elections to Biden, but has refused to concede the loss. He also faces criminal charges over his efforts to reverse his 2020 election loss.
