Bihar government has launched the ambitious BiharOne Project aimed at transforming service delivery through a unified digital platform, marking a major step towards citizen-centric governance in the state.
Under the project, a contract worth ₹87 crore has been awarded to Corporate Infotech Pvt. Ltd. (CIPL), with the platform expected to go live by July this year.
Single-Window Platform for Government Services
BiharOne seeks to simplify access to public services by integrating multiple government departments into a single digital interface. The initiative aims to eliminate the need for citizens to navigate multiple offices, lengthy paperwork, and procedural delays.
Officials said the platform will enable people to access services – from applying for certificates to availing welfare schemes – quickly and efficiently, significantly reducing turnaround time.
Focus on Citizen-Centric Governance
At the core of the initiative is a focus on accessibility and inclusion. The platform will integrate the Bihar Common Social Registry with departmental services, allowing seamless data sharing and reducing duplication of documentation.
This is expected to benefit a wide range of users, including farmers, students, and families seeking government assistance, particularly in rural areas.
Boost to Digital Infrastructure and Employment
The project is also expected to contribute to Bihar’s digital economy. A development centre is being set up in Patna, positioning the city as an emerging technology hub in eastern India.
Industry experts noted that the initiative could generate employment opportunities in sectors such as software development, data analytics, and artificial intelligence, while supporting the state’s broader goal of becoming an IT hub.
Data-Driven Governance and AI Integration
BiharOne will leverage real-time data and analytics to improve policymaking and service delivery. The platform will enable authorities to monitor implementation, ensure targeted delivery of benefits, and enhance transparency.
Additionally, AI-powered chatbots in Hindi, English, and regional languages will be introduced to help citizens easily access information and services.
Integration of Services Under One Ecosystem
Supported by BELTRON, the platform will integrate both RTPS and non-RTPS services into a unified system, ensuring wider coverage and improved efficiency.
