BJP’s focus on nation-building, not forming governments: Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday refuted claims suggesting that the RSS opposes reservation or affirmative action. He underscored the Sangh’s dedication to safeguarding India’s unity, saying that it has never sought to segregate or divide people along religious lines.

Speaking at a public event in Lucknow, Singh rebuffed the opposition’s allegations of the BJP being divisive, underlining that his party prioritises nation-building rather than merely vying for power.

Drawing upon his RSS background, Singh said that he proudly identifies as a Swayamsevak of the RSS. He emphasized that the organisation does not promote divisions between Hindus and Muslims.

Addressing the perceived crisis of confidence and credibility in politics, Singh said that the BJP acknowledges this as a challenge and that the party is striving to rebuild public trust and restore credibility.

Highlighting India’s economic trajectory, Singh said that under the Congress-led UPA, India ranked 11th in terms of GDP, but under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, it has risen to the fifth position. He expressed optimism about India’s potential to become the third-largest economy in the coming years.

Furthermore, Singh reassured the public of the country’s secure borders and urged opposition leaders to refrain from questioning the valor of the armed forces. He called for unity among all parties, emphasizing the importance of standing together for border and national security, regardless of political differences.
