Border Roads Organisation (BRO)’s Project Chetak celebrated its 47th Raising Day on Saturday in Rajasthan’s Bikaner, marking over four decades of service in strengthening infrastructure in India’s western border regions.
Raised in 1980, Project Chetak has played a key role in developing and maintaining road networks across Rajasthan, Punjab and northern parts of Gujarat, contributing to improved connectivity in border areas and enhancing national security.
Over the years, the project has emerged as one of the largest under the BRO in terms of geographical coverage, maintaining more than 4,000 kilometres of road network and 214 kilometres of Ditch-cum-Bund infrastructure.
Operating with the motto “Chetak ka Prayas, Desh ka Vikas”, the project has been instrumental in supporting the armed forces by ensuring reliable connectivity through key feeder roads leading to the International Border. Continuous efforts are also underway to upgrade these roads to National Highway double-lane standards.
