BSF apprehends 10 Bangladeshi Nationals with fake Aadhaar cards in Tripura

In a joint operation, the Border Security Force (BSF), anti-human trafficking team, and intelligence unit apprehended 10 Bangladeshi nationals attempting to conceal their identities using counterfeit Aadhaar cards on Tuesday.

The operation, part of a special drive to intercept Bangladeshi nationals, was conducted based on specific intelligence. Search teams were deployed to suspected dropping points in the Amtali and Dukli areas of West Tripura.

“At about 0515 hours, the BSF team, along with sister agencies, apprehended 4 female Bangladeshi nationals, including one baby. Subsequently, at about 0800 hours, the joint party further apprehended 6 other Bangladeshi nationals along with one suspected Indian tout,” a BSF statement said.

Initially, the apprehended individuals denied their Bangladeshi nationality, presenting fake Aadhaar cards as proof of Indian citizenship. However, during preliminary questioning, they admitted to being Bangladeshi nationals.

The BSF and Government Railway Police (GRP) are conducting further interrogations. This operation is part of the BSF’s intensified efforts to dismantle the network of touts facilitating illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals into Tripura.

Meanwhile on Tuesday evening, 16 more Bangladeshi nationals – 13 men and 3 women – were apprehended at Agartala Railway Station. Three of those arrested were identified as Bangladeshi touts involved in illegal activities.

A case has been registered at the Agartala Government Railway Police Station under various sections of the law.
