The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the excise policy case.
Kejriwal was produced before the court of vacation judge Amitabh Rawat at the Rouse Avenue court in New Delhi, where the CBI sought his custody for interrogation.
During the hearing, Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal, AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and AAP leader Dilip Pandey were present in the courtroom.
On Tuesday, the CBI had questioned Kejriwal at Tihar Jail and recorded his statement.
The AAP convener was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with the excise policy case.
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday stayed a trial court order granting bail to Kejriwal. The vacation bench of Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain, while issuing the order, noted that the trial court had not properly considered the documents and arguments presented by the ED.
