The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued show-cause notices to 29 schools in Delhi and five other states for alleged violations related to enrollment practices and non-compliance with academic and infrastructural standards.
According to a statement issued on Thursday, these notices follow surprise inspections conducted on December 18 and 19, 2024. The inspections identified instances of non-compliance with CBSE’s Affiliation Bye-Laws.
The inspections were carried out in Delhi on December 18, and on December 19 in Bengaluru (Karnataka), Patna (Bihar), Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh), Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), and Ahmedabad (Gujarat). Reports from the inspections pointed to violations, including enrollment discrepancies and a failure to meet prescribed academic and infrastructural norms.
Some schools were found to have recorded student enrollments exceeding actual attendance figures, raising concerns about unauthorized enrollment practices. Other schools were identified as not adhering to CBSE guidelines related to infrastructure and academics.
In response, CBSE issued show-cause notices to these institutions, requiring them to submit replies within 30 days. Each school was provided with a copy of the respective inspection report and directed to address the issues raised.
The CBSE emphasized its commitment to enforcing compliance with its regulations to maintain the standards of education across affiliated schools.
Schools that have received notices include Hope Hall Foundation School, Jagriti Public School, Oxford Public School, JN Int School, and Nav Gian Deep Public School in Delhi. Other institutions include S D Memorial Vidya Mandir, Navyug Convent School, and C R Oasis Convent School.
In Bengaluru, Sri Chaitanya Techno School and Narayana Olympiad School were inspected, while in Patna, Satyam International and Eklavya Educational Complex were identified. Inspections in Varanasi involved Raj English School, Happy Model School, and St K C Memorial English School. Schools in Ahmedabad include Nirman High School and The New Tulip International School. In Bilaspur, Modern Educational Academy and Intelligent Public School were inspected.
CBSE stated that further action would be taken based on the responses received from the schools.
