The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the schedule for the Class X and XII board examinations for the academic year 2025. The exams are set to commence on February 15, 2025, with the detailed date sheet now available on the official CBSE website. All exams will begin at 10:30 am on the scheduled days.
In a statement, CBSE assured students that adequate gaps have been provided between subjects typically chosen by the same candidates, ensuring a smoother exam experience. The exams for the Secondary School Examination (Class X) will run from February 15 to March 18, 2025. Notable dates include the Science exam on February 20, 2025, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, and the Social Science (087) exam on February 25, 2025. The Mathematics exam is scheduled for March 10, and the Hindi exam will take place on February 28, 2025.
Similarly, the Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII) will begin on the same date, February 15, 2025, and conclude on April 4, 2025. Key exam dates for Class XII students include the Physics exam on February 21, 2025, Business Studies on February 22, 2025, Chemistry on February 27, and Geography on February 24, 2025. The Mass Media Studies exam is scheduled for March 7, 2025.
In preparing the date sheet, CBSE ensured that no two exams for students taking multiple subjects overlap. The board emphasized that over 40,000 subject combinations were considered to avoid such conflicts.
This year’s exam schedule comes notably earlier than usual, with the date sheet being released nearly 86 days before the exams begin. CBSE highlighted that this marks an improvement of 23 days compared to last year, thanks to the timely submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) by schools.
The early release of the schedule offers several advantages, the board stated. It allows students to begin their preparations well in advance, reducing stress and potentially improving performance. Teachers and families will also benefit from the extra time, enabling them to better plan their schedules, including summer vacations and evaluation duties. Schools, particularly those serving as exam centres, will have ample time to organize their academic activities without disruption to non-board classes.
For more information, students and parents can access the full date sheet on the official CBSE website.
