Centre lays down guidelines for implementing e-Office platform in govt offices

In a significant move towards digital governance, the Government of India has accelerated the adoption of the e-Office platform across its administrative landscape.

From 2019 to 2024, the central secretariat witnessed a remarkable shift with 94% of files and 95% of receipts processed digitally through the e-Office system. Building on this success, the government on Thursday said that it will be implementing e-Office in all attached, subordinate offices and autonomous bodies as part of the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances’ (DARPG) 100-day agenda.

This decision aims to streamline operations and enhance efficiency across 133 identified offices. Following rigorous inter-ministerial consultations, guidelines for the adoption of e-Office were issued on June 24 this year.

An inter-ministerial meeting, chaired by Secretary DARPG, V. Srinivas, facilitated detailed discussions on the on-boarding roadmap and technical modalities.

Key officials from ministries, departments, and the identified offices participated, alongside a team from the National Informatics Centre (NIC) led by Rachna Srivastava, Deputy Director General.
