Civil Aviation Bill proposed to split CAAN

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey had affirmed in the meeting of the House of Representatives, International Relations and Tourism Committee that the government of Nepal is serious towards enhancing air safety in Nepal.

According to sources, Minister of Civil Aviation Pandey said that the Aviation Bill may soon be tabled in Parliament after receiving approval from the Ministry of Finance. The Aviation Bill has a proposal to split the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal into a separate executive body and a regulatory body.

It is assumed that the splitting of CAAN will check on cases of air crashes in Nepal as the regulatory body for aviation will be different from the body that operates flights.
