Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke out against the Congress party, highlighting remarks made by its leaders during foreign visits as being disrespectful to the nation. Addressing the National PM Vishwakarma Programme in Wardha, Maharashtra, he alluded to recent comments made by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who criticized the BJP-led government during his visit to the U.S.
“The spirit of patriotism has died in today’s Congress. The ghost of hatred has entered today’s Congress. Look at their language on foreign soil, their agenda of breaking society and insulting the culture of the country,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister also took aim at the Congress government in Karnataka, saying, “They even have problems with Ganesh Puja. We saw how the Congress government in Karnataka put the Ganesh idol in a police van.”
He described Congress as a party of “lies, deception, and dishonesty,” accusing it of failing to fulfill promises like waiving farmers’ loans in Telangana.
The PM also discussed how the Congress party had hindered the progress of SC, ST, and OBC communities, which his government has worked to rectify. He emphasized the recent benefits these communities have received under the Vishwakarma Yojana.
PM Modi criticized the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra for pushing cotton farmers into misery through corruption and political inaction. He underscored the work done by Devendra Fadnavis’s government in developing a textile park in Amravati and laid the foundation stone for the PM MITRA Park in the region.
The Prime Minister congratulated the beneficiaries of the Vishwakarma Yojana, which he described as a roadmap to utilize India’s traditional skills to build a developed nation. He emphasized that the scheme symbolizes respect, empowerment, and prosperity for artisans.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed confidence that under PM Modi’s leadership, India would become the world’s most powerful country, fulfilling the aspirations of 140 crore people.
The event marked the one-year celebration of the Vishwakarma Yojana, during which the PM distributed certificates, loans, and credit to 18 beneficiaries. He also launched the “Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Women Startup Scheme,” which will provide financial assistance of up to Rs 25 lakh to women-led startups in Maharashtra.
