Corporate Affairs Ministry hosts third ‘Candidate Open House’ for PM Internship Scheme

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) held the third ‘Candidate Open House’ for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) on Thursday, offering aspiring interns a platform to interact with experts and gain valuable insights into the program. The latest session saw overwhelming participation, with over 684 live attendees and 1,765 pre-submitted questions, according to a statement by the Ministry on Friday.

This weekly initiative, designed to guide applicants through the PMIS application process, provides a transparent and accessible forum for candidates to engage with industry professionals and ministry representatives. Queries during the session revolved around eligibility, selection criteria, and sector-specific opportunities, all of which were addressed live by the PMIS team.

The Open House featured industry expert Don Lewis, Head of Skill Development & Education at Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Division, who provided career-building advice and underscored the importance of internships in enhancing employability. Lewis praised the PM Internship Scheme for its ability to connect young talent with industry leaders, emphasizing that proactive candidates stand to benefit significantly from the experience.

The event also highlighted the success stories of three PMIS interns—Shweta Joshi, Ankit Kumar, and Vidyasagar Patil—who shared their growth journeys. Ankit Kumar, a painter intern at Mahindra & Mahindra in Nashik, discussed overcoming language barriers and how the internship broadened his skills, while Shweta Joshi, interning with Tech Mahindra, shared how her exposure to advanced technologies like SQL and AWS CloudWatch has boosted her confidence and employability.

Senior MCA officials and technical experts from BISAG (Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics) participated as panellists, providing key guidance on navigating the PMIS portal and making informed decisions on internship selections. Candidates were encouraged to explore diverse opportunities across various sectors and regions to maximize their learning and career prospects.
