The Delhi Cantonment Board (DCB) has launched a new digital platform called Swachhata Monitoring & Automated Reporting Tool (SMART) to improve transparency, efficiency and real-time monitoring of sanitation and civic services across the cantonment area.
The initiative aims to address long-standing challenges such as manual reporting, delays in data collection and fragmented monitoring systems by introducing an automated and integrated digital solution.
Real-time monitoring and automated reporting
The SMART platform enables real-time tracking of field activities carried out by staff across several departments including sanitation, horticulture, civil works and electrical services.
The DCB said the tool automates data collection and reporting processes, reducing manual effort while ensuring accurate and timely information for decision-making.
Key features of the system include a centralised dashboard that allows authorities to monitor performance indicators across departments, as well as role-based user access to ensure secure and efficient workflow management.
Four-tier monitoring mechanism
The platform operates through a four-tier monitoring structure involving the Chief Executive Officer, Officers-in-Charge, Assistant Sanitary Inspectors (ASIs) and supervisors.
Under this system, supervisors submit daily updates on field work, ASIs provide backup oversight, Officers-in-Charge track departmental performance and the CEO reviews consolidated reports to guide policy and operational decisions.
AI-enabled analytics planned
AI-enabled analytical capabilities are being integrated into the platform as part of a pilot initiative to further strengthen monitoring and operational efficiency.
The AI module will analyse operational data, identify recurring issues and automatically highlight areas requiring urgent attention. It will also support automated issue classification, intelligent alerts and performance analytics, enabling senior officials to monitor trends, assess staff productivity and deploy resources more effectively.
The DCB said the new system is expected to improve accountability, streamline civic service delivery and strengthen the management of sanitation and urban infrastructure within the cantonment area.
