Delhi govt approves Mahila Samridhi Yojana to provide Rs 2,500 to women

Union Minister and BJP President JP Nadda on Saturday launched the ‘Mahila Samridhi Yojana,’ a direct cash transfer scheme for women in Delhi.

Addressing a public event on International Women’s Day in the national capital, Nadda announced that the scheme, which provides ₹2,500 to women in Delhi, has been approved.

“I am happy today and congratulate Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and others for allocating ₹5,100 crore to implement the Mahila Samridhi Yojana in Delhi,” Nadda said.

He also acknowledged the role of women in the BJP’s electoral success in Delhi. “On Women’s Day, I salute women’s empowerment and thank the women of Delhi for their significant contribution in forming the BJP government. This victory has been possible only with their blessings and support,” he added.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva confirmed that ₹5,100 crore has been sanctioned for one year to implement the scheme. “We will now begin registration, and the scheme will be rolled out soon,” he stated.

Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa added, “The scheme has been approved, and its portal will soon be activated for women to apply. Information regarding eligibility criteria and other details will be provided. A committee of three ministers—Kapil Mishra, Ashish Sood, and Pravesh Verma—has been formed to finalize the criteria and other aspects of the scheme. I congratulate everyone on this initiative.”

Addressing the gathering, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta assured that the BJP-led government in the national capital would fulfill all its promises. “Women from across the country, from North to South and from Gujarat to the Northeast, are sending their congratulations. Women from different fields are happy,” she said.

She also highlighted the Modi government’s commitment to women’s welfare. “The only government that approved 33 percent reservation for women is Narendra Modi’s government. We will work to ensure women’s welfare and security. We will fulfill all our promises. We have also built pink toilets in Delhi to enhance women’s safety,” she added.

Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, which concluded earlier this year, the BJP had pledged to provide ₹2,500 to women in Delhi as part of its campaign promises.
