Residents of the national capital woke up to heavy rainfall on Friday, which led to severe waterlogging and widespread traffic disruptions across the city.
Schoolchildren were seen braving the downpour, trying to avoid getting drenched on their way to school. Severe waterlogging was reported in areas like Baprola and Najafgarh Road.
Traffic on Aurobindo Marg came to a near standstill, with vehicles moving slowly due to waterlogged stretches.
Earlier, the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) in New Delhi had predicted “light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning” in parts of Delhi, including Jafarpur, and neighboring areas of the NCR such as Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, and Ballabhgarh.
Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory that said: “Traffic is affected on Ring Road in the carriageway from South Extension towards Lajpat Nagar due to a truck breakdown at Moolchand Underpass. Kindly plan your journey accordingly.”
