Delhi’s air turns hazardous, residents gasp for breath

Delhi’s air quality turned to “severe” on Thursday as toxic haze blanketed the national capital region, raising fears of another public health emergency.

Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 415 on a scale of 500 in the capital's Anand Vihar area, indicating hazardous levels of pollution.

The ongoing air pollution levels in Delhi are exacerbating respiratory issues, particularly in children and the elderly, leading to an increase in asthma and lung problems.

The Delhi government has announced a ban on the entry of diesel buses and said construction activities will be halted if the situation persists.
