The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) signed 72 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with private institutions and start-ups in New Delhi on Monday. These MoUs aim to empower persons with disabilities socially, educationally, and economically.
The MoUs were signed by Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, and Minister of State B.L. Verma. Kumar said that the DEPwD has consistently played a significant role in the social, economic, and educational empowerment of persons with disabilities.
He further highlighted that many institutions within the country manufacture useful devices at low costs to make the lives of persons with disabilities easier. Verma emphasized that the MoUs signed demonstrate the government’s commitment to persons with disabilities.
