Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurates workshop on women leaders and academic excellence

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated a one-day workshop titled “Women Leaders: Shaping Academic Excellence for Viksit Bharat @ 2047”, organized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in New Delhi.

In his keynote address, Pradhan underscored the alignment of the workshop with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizing the pivotal role of women in transforming education.

“Nari Shakti is a symbol of strength, resilience, and hope,” said the Minister. He acknowledged the growing participation of women in various fields, including science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), which is redefining traditional gender roles.

Pradhan said that the emerging world order is being shaped by knowledge-driven societies and stressed the need for a level playing field for women in all sectors. He expressed confidence that the deliberations during the workshop would pave the way for empowering women in education and beyond.

The Minister called for the establishment of an Indian model of women empowerment, ensuring women are integral to decision-making structures across all spheres of life. “As we move towards achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, women will play increasingly vital roles in decision-making and societal transformation,” he stated.

Pradhan concluded by affirming that true equality and the empowerment of women are prerequisites for the overall empowerment of society and the nation.
