The Founder of Isha Foundation, Jaggi Vasudev, popularly known as Sadhguru, advised students on Saturday not to stress over examinations, emphasizing that studies and tests are designed to develop the brain.
Speaking in the fifth episode of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha,’ the spiritual leader said, “The more you keep your brain active, the more efficiently it will function.”
Encouraging students not to compare themselves with others, he remarked, “Thinking that you are not as intelligent as someone else is a mistake. Everyone has something special that allows them to do things others cannot.”
Recalling his observations, Sadhguru shared, “I used to notice an increase in the sale of medicines for diarrhoea during exam time. I wondered why this happened, and later I realized it was due to fear.”
Urging students to overcome exam-related fear, he said, “Education is not just about exams. They are merely an evaluation to determine if you are ready for the next level.”
Highlighting the significance of studies, he noted, “Education provides fundamental knowledge, granting access to life. Subjects like Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry keep your intelligence dynamic.”
“If you want to be competent, you must maintain an active and dynamic intelligence. Everyone has the potential to shine, but it requires effort,” he added.
Addressing the complexities of human nature, he remarked, “If you are physically present somewhere, but your mind is elsewhere, it’s not right. Don’t let your mind and body become unwell, or they will act against your will. Train them to work for you.”
On dealing with distractions and wandering thoughts, Sadhguru compared them to “mental diarrhoea” and suggested meditation as a remedy.
He also shared a seven-minute meditation technique and advised students to practice it daily on an empty stomach to reduce stress.
“Use the miracle of the mind to bring balance. Pronounce ‘AAA,’ ‘OOO,’ and ‘MMM,'” he explained.
Highlighting the benefits of meditation, he mentioned that the Shambhavi Mudra illuminates a large part of the brain.
He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for addressing exam-related stress and supporting students.
PM Modi launched the eighth edition of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ on February 10 in Delhi, interacting with students at Sunder Nursery during the first episode.
