DPIIT, Mercedes-Benz India sign MoU to support startups & road safety

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mercedes-Benz India to advance India’s manufacturing ecosystem while promoting road safety and environmental sustainability. The collaboration aims to provide crucial support to startups, innovators, and entrepreneurs, fostering technological advancements and societal development.

The partnership will facilitate structured programs designed to equip startups with essential resources, including infrastructure, mentorship, funding opportunities, and market linkages. It will also encourage international collaborations and knowledge-sharing initiatives to drive long-term, sustainable growth.

Speaking on the occasion, DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv emphasized the strategic importance of the collaboration, stating, “This partnership with Mercedes-Benz India is a significant step towards strengthening India’s manufacturing capabilities while ensuring that innovation remains responsible and sustainable. By fostering industry-academia linkages, we aim to create an ecosystem that drives impactful technological advancements.”

Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director Santosh Iyer echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the company’s commitment to road safety, environmental sustainability, and advanced manufacturing. “We are excited about this collaboration, which aligns with our key focus areas. Through our CSR initiatives, we will work closely with incubators and institutions to drive meaningful societal impact,” he stated.

The MoU was signed by DPIIT Director Dr. Sumeet Kumar Jarangal and Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director Santosh Iyer, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations. The initiative marks a crucial step in leveraging private-sector expertise to strengthen India’s innovation landscape while addressing pressing societal and environmental challenges.
