The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Blue Star Limited to strengthen India’s manufacturing and startup ecosystem.
The collaboration aims to support startups, innovators, and entrepreneurs working in key areas such as HVAC technologies, digital solutions, advanced manufacturing, and supply chain innovation. The initiative is designed to foster industry-driven innovation and enable startups to build scalable, market-ready solutions.
Under the partnership, startups will gain access to mentorship from industry experts, research and development facilities, testing infrastructure, and pilot opportunities. The programme will also facilitate product validation, proof-of-concept (PoC) development, and integration into industry value chains.
DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv said the collaboration marks an important step in promoting industry-led innovation. He noted that such partnerships allow startups to work on real-world challenges and scale their solutions effectively.
As part of the initiative, DPIIT and Blue Star will explore organising innovation challenges and hackathons under the Bharat Startup Grand Challenge, focusing on HVAC, digital technologies, and manufacturing sectors. Selected startups will also have opportunities for pilot deployment and further industry engagement.
The MoU was signed by DPIIT Deputy Secretary T. L. K. Singh and Blue Star Limited Managing Director B Thiagarajan in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
The Ministry said the partnership is expected to strengthen India’s innovation ecosystem by bridging the gap between startups and industry, while promoting technological advancement and manufacturing growth.
