Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurates NDTL 2025: pioneering innovations and tackling challenges in anti-doping science

Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, inaugurated the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL) Annual Conference 2025 on Wednesday, focusing on the theme “Anti-Doping Science: Innovations and Challenges”, according to an official statement from the Ministry.  

During his keynote address, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized India’s unwavering commitment to promoting clean and fair competition in sports. He advocated for early education on doping awareness, suggesting its inclusion in school curricula and the implementation of awareness campaigns in rural areas.

He called for the active involvement of sports federations to ensure that athletes are fully informed about anti-doping regulations, and highlighted the importance of cutting-edge research and technology in doping detection to protect athletes’ careers and safeguard the integrity of national and international sports events.

The conference was also attended by Raksha Nikhil Khadse, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Sujata Chaturvedi, Secretary (Sports), and others.

Key topics addressed at the conference included innovations in doping detection methods, the evolving nature of prohibited substances, and strategies to combat emerging threats, such as the rise of undetectable substances. Experts engaged in discussions on the role of sports federations, scientists, and educators in promoting clean sports through collaborative efforts and enhanced enforcement.

The event featured interactive sessions, panel discussions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives aimed at strengthening anti-doping measures in India. Young scholars and students participated actively, reflecting the growing commitment to ethical sporting practices.

The NDTL Annual Conference 2025 reaffirmed India’s dedication to upholding global anti-doping standards and represented a significant step toward creating a doping-free sports culture. The Director of NDTL, in his closing remarks, expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, speakers, and participants, stressing the importance of collaborative efforts and continued research in combating doping in sports.
