DUSU elections currently underway after High Court’s approval, no vote counting until posters and graffiti are removed

The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections took place on Friday after the Delhi High Court granted permission for the polls to proceed. Voting was conducted in two phases: from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM for morning shift students, and until 7:30 PM for evening shift students.

On Thursday, the Delhi High Court allowed DU to move ahead with the elections but barred the counting of votes until the court was assured that all campaign materials such as posters, hoardings, and graffiti were removed after the elections, and that no public property had been damaged or defaced. The court further directed that EVMs and ballot boxes be securely stored until further orders.

In the 2023 elections, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won three of the four central panel seats, including the presidency. Tushar Dedha of ABVP was elected as president, while NSUI’s Abhi Dahiya, the only NSUI winner, was elected vice president of the Students’ UnionDUSU elections currently underway after High Court’s approval, no vote counting until posters and graffiti are removed.
