The National Science Centre, under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, will commemorate World Earth Day on April 22 with a series of educational and interactive programmes for students and science enthusiasts. The celebration aligns with this year’s global theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” highlighting the shared responsibility to protect and preserve the environment.

The programme will feature a popular science lecture titled “Exploring Antarctica: A Journey to the White Continent” at 10:00 AM. The session will be delivered by Dr. Amitava Sen Gupta, Distinguished Professor at the Department of Space, Indian Space Research Organisation. The lecture is expected to provide insights into the scientific importance and unique challenges of Antarctica.

An Open House Quiz Contest will follow at 11:00 AM, aimed at engaging young participants in topics related to environmental science and biodiversity, while fostering scientific curiosity and awareness.

Officials stated that the initiative reflects the Centre’s continued efforts, under the Ministry of Culture, to promote science education and connect students with leading experts, encouraging a deeper understanding of the role of science in safeguarding the planet.
