Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated in Bangladesh; PM Modi greets Sheikh Hasina, people of Bangladesh

The biggest festival of Muslims Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with joy and reverence on Thursday in Bangladesh. Traditional congregation was held at the National Eidgah Maidan and other places in Dhaka. Thousands of people including eminent persons, political personalities and others took part in the Eid congregation held in Dhaka and other parts of the country.

In a letter to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended on behalf of the people and the government of India, warm greetings to the people of Bangladesh on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Prime Minister Modi noted in the letter that as they celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with traditional fervour, people across the world are reminded of the values of compassion, brotherhood and togetherness.

He hoped and prayed for peace, harmony, good health and happiness for people across the world, and wished for the bonds of friendship and camaraderie among our countries to grow stronger.

Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages greeting the countrymen as well as the Muslims across the world on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

The President offered the prayers of Eid-ul-Fitr along with hundreds of people from all walks of life at the National Eidgah on the High Court premises, Dhaka this morning.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and the Rapid  Action Battalion made extensive security arrangements at the prayer venue to ensure safety and security of the people. A four-tier security arrangement was put in place in and around the National Eidgah Maidan in Dhaka. 

The roads in Dhaka town were deserted as millions of people left the capital city to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr at their ancestral places.
