The Embassy of Switzerland in India marked 75 years of Swiss-Indian friendship by presenting a Swiss Art Night titled “In the Air”. The evening featured performances by award-winning Swiss aerialist Jason Brügger and hula-hoop artist Eshna Kutty.
Switzerland and India signed the ‘Treaty of Friendship and Establishment’ on August 14, 1948, which came into force on May 5, 1949. The treaty established a commitment to perpetual peace and unalterable friendship between the two countries.
The event ‘In the Air’ commemorated this milestone through the symbolism of aerial art. Three unique shows were presented, showcasing the elements of water, earth, air, and sparks of fire.
On the occasion, Swiss Ambassador-designate Maya Tissafi stated, “In times of war, this year’s Swiss Art Night ‘In the Air’ is about celebrating peace and friendship. This year, India and Switzerland have reached new heights with the signing of the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement. This event celebrates what unites the Swiss and Indian people.” Aerialist Jason Brügger expressed his excitement to perform in India and be part of this year’s Swiss Art Night in New Delhi.
Launched in 2014, the Swiss Art Night brings together the diplomatic community, businesspersons, and artistic circles in the capital to celebrate art.
