Etawah: Seven killed after Delhi-bound bus collides with car on Lucknow-Agra Expressway

Seven people were killed in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah following a collision between a double-decker bus and a car in the early hours of Sunday, police reported.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Kumar Verma informed reporters that the incident occurred around 12:30 am on Sunday when a double-decker bus traveling from Raebareli to Delhi collided with a car, causing the bus to plunge into a gorge.

“The car was heading to Lucknow. There were 60 people on the bus, of whom four died. Twenty to twenty-five people who were injured have been admitted to the hospital. Three people in the car also died. The accident occurred because the car driver fell asleep while driving,” Verma said.

The official further added that the government is ensuring the best treatment for the injured. Rescue operations are ongoing for the remaining victims.

“The government is ensuring that the admitted people receive the best treatment. Rescue operations are also being conducted for the other victims. We are making every effort to ensure that all remaining people reach their destinations,” the SSP said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences over the deaths of seven people who were killed in an accident that took place in Etawah on Sunday night.

The CM directed the officials to reach the spot immediately and expedite relief work for the injured.
