External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar visited the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi today. This visit to the first traditional Hindu stone temple in the Middle East underscores the growing cultural and diplomatic ties between India and the United Arab Emirates.BAPS, which stands for Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha, is a prominent Hindu denomination with a global presence.
The temple, inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 14, 2024, has quickly become a symbol of religious tolerance and diversity in the Gulf region. Dr. Jaishankar’s visit highlights its importance to the Indian diaspora and its role in fostering international relations.
Following the temple visit, the Minister is set to participate in International Day of Yoga celebrations at the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Dr. Jaishankar is also set to meet with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan later in the day .The two are expected to discuss a wide range of issues pertaining to the India-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership, as well as regional and global developments.
