Fisheries ministry drives clean governance, resolves 82% of grievances

The Department of Fisheries, under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, has achieved major progress in the ongoing Phase 2 of the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign, resolving 82 per cent of public grievances so far. The campaign, launched as part of the government’s “Special Campaign 5.0,” focuses on promoting cleanliness, efficiency, and a better work environment within the department.

Aligned with the government’s broader vision of responsive and accountable governance, the initiative aims at expeditious disposal of pending matters, including references from Members of Parliament, the Prime Minister’s Office, VIPs, and State Governments. It also places emphasis on timely resolution of public grievances and appeals.

Between October 2 and October 23, 2025, the Department successfully completed 45 out of 50 scheduled cleanliness drives and resolved 53 of the 65 targeted grievances and appeals. In addition, 113 outdated physical files were weeded out, and 50 square feet of office space was reclaimed through the responsible disposal of scrap, e-waste, and redundant documents.

The Department is also adopting sustainable office practices, ensuring systematic waste management and responsible e-waste disposal. These measures have improved operational efficiency and enhanced workplace aesthetics, contributing to a cleaner, greener, and more productive environment.
