The Fisheries Startup Conclave 2.0 will be organised on 8th March 2025 in Hyderabad, Telangana, by the Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying (MoFAH&D). The event will be attended by key figures, including Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Minister of State George Kurian, and Minister of State Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel.
The conclave aims to bring together key stakeholders to promote innovation in the fisheries sector, with a particular focus on startup opportunities in fisheries and aquaculture.
The conclave will also serve as the platform for the launch of the National Fisheries Digital Platform Mobile App. This initiative will streamline access to fisheries-related services and resources, facilitating easier engagement for entrepreneurs and startups in the sector.
Along with the app launch, the Fisheries Startup Grand Challenge 2.0 will be unveiled to encourage innovation and technological advancements within the fisheries industry. The event will also feature the distribution of Entrepreneur Model approvals to fisheries startups, providing recognition and support to emerging enterprises in the sector.
In addition to the official launches, the conclave will include technical sessions and discussions on the evolving fisheries ecosystem in India. Stakeholders, including government officials and fisheries startups, will exchange feedback and insights on key initiatives undertaken by the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). This will also be a platform for startups to share their experiences and innovations.
India’s fisheries and aquaculture sector is a significant contributor to the nation’s economy, sustaining over 3 crore livelihoods and creating employment across various segments of the value chain.
Since 2015, the government has invested ₹38,572 crore in the sector through initiatives like the Blue Revolution Scheme, Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF), and Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). This investment has led to the growth of over 300 fisheries startups that utilize advanced technologies such as blockchain, IoT, and AI to address challenges, enhance productivity, and improve the value chain.
