Foxconn eyes investment in Hyderabad; Chairman Young Liu meets CM Revanth Reddy

Foxconn Chairman Young Liu has expressed a strong interest in investing in Hyderabad, pointing to the city’s growing capabilities in both industrial and service sectors.

During a recent meeting in New Delhi with Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Liu praised the CM’s approach, particularly his plans for the development of the Fourth City project.

Liu said, “Hyderabad city has the potential to expand in all sectors, including industrial and service sectors.”

The Foxconn delegation, led by Liu, was briefed by CM Reddy on Hyderabad’s rich historical background, industrial strength, and favorable climate. The Chief Minister outlined the city’s consistent industrial growth, which has remained steady despite political changes over the years.

Reddy also provided details on the phased development of three cities within Hyderabad, a process that began over four centuries ago, and introduced the Fourth City project. This initiative is designed to foster growth in education, healthcare, sports, electronics, electrical industries, and skill development.

A cornerstone of this project is the establishment of the Young India Skill Development University on Hyderabad’s outskirts. According to CM Reddy, leading industrialists are playing a key role in shaping the university’s curriculum to equip the youth with skills demanded by modern industries.

“Eminent industrialists are involved in the design of the syllabus to provide the necessary skills and human resources that equip the youth with modern industry skills,” he said.

Anand Mahindra, appointed as chairman of the university, and Srinivasa Raju, serving as vice-chairman, are involved in this effort.

The CM also emphasized Hyderabad’s strategic advantages, including the International Airport, Outer Ring Road (ORR), and Regional Ring Road (RRR), assuring Foxconn of full support, including permits and incentives, for establishing their factories in the Fourth City. He extended a formal invitation for Foxconn to invest in the ambitious project.

State IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu provided additional insights to Liu, detailing the state’s pro-industrial policies, financial incentives, and international partnerships aimed at boosting industrial growth. He also recounted the successes of recent international engagements in the USA and South Korea under Revanth Reddy’s leadership.

Liu, visibly impressed by the CM’s vision, affirmed Foxconn’s interest in exploring investment opportunities in Hyderabad. He outlined plans for an initial visit by a team led by Chief Campus Operations Officer Kathy Yang and India representative V Lee, followed by his own visit soon after.

Praising the Fourth City initiative and the supportive industrial policies, Liu expressed his eagerness to visit Hyderabad in the near future.
